New outreach campaign leverages celebrity mom to promote prenatal and infant health via wireless technology

WASHINGTON (March 18, 2014) – To celebrate four years as the nation’s number one mobile health information service, The Wireless Foundation is excited to announce a series of new public service announcements featuring R&B superstar Brandy to promote the Text4baby program.

Through the public service announcements, made possible by support from The Wireless Foundation, the multi-platinum, Grammy-award winning singer, songwriter and actress will help Text4baby reach more expecting and new moms with free health and safety information. In the coming months, additional Text4baby online promotion and videos will feature the singer. Brandy is a strong supporter of moms getting the information they need that leads to better health for them and their babies, making her a perfect fit for Text4baby.

“With Text4baby’s free, personalized messages, pregnant women and new mothers can receive the critical information they need, exactly when they need it,” said Brandy. “The messages are helpful, interactive, and provide that extra bit of support we all need when raising a child.”

Women who text BABY (or BEBE for Spanish) to 511411 receive three text messages per week throughout pregnancy and baby’s first year. The service is free thanks to donated text messages from The Wireless Foundation’s participating wireless carriers. The interactive messages are personalized to the mother’s due date or baby’s birth date. Text4baby messages now contain additional information, mobile webpages, videos, appointment and immunization reminders, and more requests for participant feedback. Text4baby has provided over 678,000 moms with critical health and safety information to give children the best possible start in life.

Text4baby is a free service of the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition in collaboration with Founding Sponsor Johnson & Johnson and founding partners Voxiva and The Wireless Foundation.
